PT PLN or PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara is one of the state-owned (State-Owned Enterprises) company in charge of electricity business sector in Indonesia. The company is headed by a president director of Nur Pamudji, replacing Dahlan Iskan former President Director who inaugurated as minister of state-owned Electricity Company in Indonesia beginning in the late 19th century, when several Dutch companies set up power generation for their own purposes. Electricity utilities for public use started from Dutch private company NV. NIGM expanded its business in the field of electric power, which was originally only engaged in the field of gas. Then expanded with the establishment of other private companies. PT PLN is a company that has a vital role in Indonesia.

PT PLN and several subsidiaries such as PJB and Indonesia Power are the main source of electricity in Indonesia, so that on the symbol of PT PLN has its own meaning in each component, the symbols are the vision and mission picture that guides PT PLN. Then in the matter of the objective of the establishment of a company is to organize efforts to provide electricity for the public interest in adequate quantity and quality and to foster profits and carry out the assignment of the Government in the field of electricity in order to support development by applying the principles of Limited Liability Company.
